Sudanese refugees Trapped by European Migration Policies

 
Since the beginning of the civil war in April 2023, more than 11 million Sudanese people have been displaced. Among them, more than 4 million—mostly women and children—have been forced to leave the country. Even before undertaking the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean to Europe, many are exposed to extreme violence and abuse in North Africa, particularly in Libya.

The objective of this conference is to raise awareness about the situation of Sudanese refugees on both sides of the Mediterranean, while also examining the impact of European policies on this population, including the externalization of migration policies and partnerships with North African countries, as well as the implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum.
